Muti-site position!
Travel requirements: 1 day a week to Tamaqua, PA and 1 visit every 6 weeks to Saxonburg, PA

Summary:                                          

The Environmental, Health and Safety Manager is responsible for the management and implementation of all company environmental, health & safety programs.  The successful candidate will develop and manage the company’s environmental, health and safety programs and standards.  You will ensure compliance with the company’s Environmental Statement and Health & Safety policies, maintain effective relations with the regulators, local community and ensure company programs and activities are communicated as appropriate.  You will record and investigate all accidents, near misses and environmental incidents.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Identifies and anticipates safety and health concerns and hazards by surveying environmental, operational, and occupational conditions; rendering opinions on new equipment and procedures, investigating violations, recommending preventive programs.
  • Ensures corporate compliance with federal, state, and local safety regulations by studying existing and new legislation, anticipating future legislation, interpreting standards, enforcing adherence to regulations and advising management on needed actions. 
  • Identifies sources of environmental pollution by collecting and analyzing data regarding emission measurements, atmospheric monitoring, meteorological and mineralogical assessments, and soil and water samples.
  • Recommends corrections and alleviations of pollution/exposure by assessing problems, identifying and evaluation of pollution control approaches and establishing standards.
  • Provides the lead role in the maintenance and conformance to the company Environmental policy including ISO14001.
  • Supports managers and all employees on a day to day basis to ensure compliance with EH&S legislation and company safe working practices.
  • Designs and implements training programs for all employees to continuously improve EH&S performance measured KPIs.
  • Displays professional behavior in the workplace at all times and works constructively with other managers as part of a team committed to achieving the company’s goals.
  • Motivates subordinates to share and achieve these same ideals.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in a scientific discipline such as chemistry
  • Professional certification in EH&S
  • 5+ years of experience working in a chemical manufacturing environment
  • Experience with MS Office- Word, Outlook and PowerPoint
  • Experience leading projects with many stakeholders
  • Experience managing staff; mentoring and training
  • Experience with Microsoft SharePoint and SAP highly beneficial
