Summary:

The Process Engineer will create, update and maintain production processes to align with customer specifications and industry standards.  Additionally, the Process Engineer will drive continuous improvement throughout the manufacturing operation to reduce costs and improve efficiencies. 

Main responsibilities:

  • Understand industry standards and customer specifications and the implications to operational processes, procedures and systems; consider Production Part Approval Processes.
  • Create, update and maintain production processes and routings with proper BOM, routings, alternate processes in ERP and other systems.  Regularly review manufacturing variances and update processes as needed.  Working with Accounting to update costs as needed.
  • Integrate and align customer specifications with capabilities and constraints of manufacturing operations and leverage continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Assist in the development of standard processes to improve efficiencies.
  • Work closely with operations and growth sector leaders to ensure effective demand & resource planning.
  • Periodically review inventory levels of by-products and determine highest and best use.
  • Actively support the implementation and sustainability of the principles of lean manufacturing to drive productivity improvements and waste reduction.
  • Promptly implement necessary corrective actions to address any findings from Customer, Quality, Safety and Environmental audits (internal & external), or other activity.
  • Develop & mentor the operations team to help in the progression toward a high-performance culture.
  • Support company’s digitalization initiatives.
  • Any other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors’ Degree in Mechanical, Process or Industrial Engineering required or at least 5 years’ related experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated success utilizing continuous improvement methodologies to improve operational performance.
  • Uses strong, creative critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Highly analytical- capable of designing experiments, data collection, analysis, and interpretation.

  • Self-directed with attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Ability to influence cross-functional business partners.
  • Intermediate or Advanced Microsoft Office skills required.
  • Ability to utilize ERP and other software systems to analyze process performance.
  • Ability to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects and tools, reach with hands and arms, and regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Work Pattern

  • 40 hours per week
